En una vieja casona del Parque Bolívar, en el centro de Medellín, un grupo de personajes vive su vida en un encierro que se volvió más aplastante a causa de la pandemia del COVID-19. Son adultos mayores, entre ellos una “pareja” de tres hombres gay, y el documental –ópera prima de Andrés Carmona– los escucha y observa, capturando su teatro de gestos cotidianos que traen todo un pesado pasado a cuestas. La mirada detenida y atenta del documental contrasta con la borrasca interior de sus personajes, expresión de una singularidad y un deseo incontenibles. La Estancia no es un hogar con la carga de orden y respetabilidad que se atribuye a esta palabra. Es un lugar para estar y persistir, y en el que se funda una atípica, conflictiva y entrañable comunidad, ajena a cualquier disciplina y clasificación. Afuera de esa casa, que también es un laberinto, está la ciudad, presentida, aludida. Al mirar el encierro, Estancia compone, además de un retrato colectivo, una sinfonía visual del espacio, es decir, un paisaje (interior). En el tiempo suspendido de la película cualquier cosa, sin embargo, podría suceder: el desastre, la muerte o algún milagro.
