¿Cuánto cuesta producir belleza? Este documental denuncia cómo los pesticidas que están prohibidos en países como Estados Unidos, Alemania, Francia son importados al Tercer Mundo y a América Latina, produciendo lo que se denomina “la bomba Atómica de los pobres”. En la Sabana de Bogotá, empresarios de Estados Unidos, Francia y Japón, en los años 70 dan inicio a la industria de la floricultura. Aprovechando la mano de obra barata, y las condiciones climáticas, se produce a muy bajos costos. Como el cultivo de las flores es propio del trabajo femenino, dan empleo a unas 70,000 mujeres. Como las flores se producen para la exportación, esto exige el uso de pesticidas, pues sus condiciones deben ser óptimas. Sin embargo, esto trae como consecuencia graves alteraciones en la salud de las mujeres y casos de muertes por la peligrosidad de los químicos utilizados.
